Professional dental hygiene focused on keeping your teeth and gums healthy while removing plaque, biofilm, calculus and surface staining.
At Rinse Dental in Brooklands, Milton Keynes, our Signature Hygiene appointments combine EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy with personalised care and practical advice to help you maintain a healthier smile between visits.

Dental hygiene is about more than simply cleaning your teeth.
Our approach focuses on prevention, early identification and helping you understand what is happening in your mouth.
Every appointment is tailored to your individual oral health needs, with treatment focused on the areas that need the most attention.
We use EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy to identify and manage plaque and biofilm in a systematic, targeted way.
Airflow® forms part of our Signature Hygiene approach where clinically appropriate, helping to remove biofilm and external surface staining.
Your treatment is guided by your teeth, gums and individual needs rather than a one-size-fits-all routine.
We help you understand where plaque is building up and give you practical advice to improve your brushing and interdental cleaning at home.
Your appointment begins with an assessment of your oral health so that treatment can be tailored appropriately.
Depending on your individual needs, your appointment may include:
EMS Airflow® & Guided Biofilm Therapy included
Guided Biofilm Therapy, or GBT, is a modern approach to professional dental hygiene developed by EMS.
Biofilm is the soft layer of bacteria that continuously forms around the teeth and gums. If it is not effectively removed, it can contribute to gum inflammation, tooth decay and gum disease.
GBT allows us to make this biofilm visible before treatment begins, helping both you and your hygienist see exactly where plaque is accumulating.
Treatment can then be focused where it is needed most.
Professional dental hygiene can make a visible difference by removing plaque, calculus and external staining while supporting healthier teeth and gums.
Every smile is different, which is why treatment at Rinse Dental is tailored to the individual rather than following the same routine for every patient.
Regular professional hygiene can help maintain healthy teeth and gums, even when you are not experiencing any obvious problems.
You may particularly benefit from seeing a dental hygienist if you have noticed:
You do not need to wait until something feels wrong.
Gum problems can develop gradually and may not always cause pain in the early stages.
If we identify signs of more advanced gum disease during your appointment, we may recommend a dedicated periodontal assessment or gum disease treatment programme.
EMS Airflow® is used as part of our Signature Hygiene approach to help remove dental biofilm and external surface staining.
Using a controlled stream of warm water, air and fine powder, Airflow® can clean areas around the teeth and gums that may be more difficult to maintain at home.
It is particularly useful for removing external staining caused by everyday habits such as:
Airflow® can also be useful when maintaining hygiene around suitable dental restorations, orthodontic appliances and implants.
Airflow® removes external surface staining, which can leave the teeth looking cleaner and brighter.
However, it does not change the natural colour of your teeth in the same way as professional teeth whitening.
If you would like to make the natural shade of your teeth lighter, our team can advise you on professional whitening options once your oral health has been assessed.
You do not need to be registered with Rinse Dental or see a dentist first to book a dental hygiene appointment with us.
Through Direct Access, patients can book directly with our dental hygienist for appropriate hygiene care.
If we identify something during your appointment that requires assessment or treatment outside the scope of dental hygiene, we will explain our findings and advise you on the appropriate next step.
Where appropriate, we can also arrange an assessment with one of our dentists at Rinse Dental.

I’ve had appointments at other hygienists which are meant to be 30 minutes long and they’re actually eight minutes so it’s nice when you go somewhere and they actually use all the time so you know they’re not rushing and are being thorough But whilst also being thorough, she was very gentle and informative throughoutPosted on Google lydia waldenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Whether you’re maintaining a healthy smile, managing sensitivity, or wearing braces, dentures, or implants, our treatments are tailored to you.
Regular visits help ensure your gums stay strong and your teeth feel their best.
Healthier gums and fresher breath
Lower risk of gum disease and decay
A cleaner, brighter smile that lasts
Confidence in your oral and overall health
For most patients, we recommend visiting every six months to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Some people, especially those prone to gum inflammation or with braces or implants, may benefit from more frequent visits. Your hygienist will advise the best interval for you.
Yes. Airflow® technology uses warm water, gentle air pressure, and fine powder for a deep yet comfortable clean. It’s far less abrasive than traditional scaling, making it ideal for patients with sensitivity, receding gums, or enamel wear.
Absolutely. At Rinse Dental, you can see our Principal Dental Hygienist directly, no referral needed. This makes it easy to stay on top of your oral health and keep your smile fresh year-round.
While hygiene treatments aren’t a whitening procedure, Airflow® cleaning removes stains and discolouration from coffee, tea, and smoking giving you a noticeably brighter, cleaner smile.
A dentist focuses on diagnosing and treating dental conditions, while a dental hygienist specialises in prevention, cleaning teeth, managing gum health, and helping you maintain a healthy mouth through regular care and education.
